Our conference is for anyone. If you enjoy rock art you should really come! Great speakers, fun people, wonderful field trips, dinner, auctions, early morning meetings, late night soirees. We have it all!

The conference registration policy has changed. Each individual coming to the conference must complete a separate registration and payment. There are no more family registrations.

Payment can be made by credit card or check. If you wish to pay by check select the "Invoice Me" option at the end of the registration process.

Pre-registration closes on May 24th. After that you will need to register at the conference. There will be additional fees for on-site registration.

Refund policy: Requests to refund conference fees will be considered if received by ARARA by May 15, 2017. A $15 processing fee will be retained. Refund requests will be processed after the meeting.

    • The Lodge at Eagle Crest - Redmond, OR

    Plans continue for the ARARA 2017 Annual Conference to be held June 1–5 at the Lodge at Eagle Crest, located just outside of Redmond, Oregon, a few miles north of Bend between the Williamette and Ochoco National Forests in the land of the lovely Deschutes River. Be sure to plan on arriving Thursday afternoon, June 1, in time to attend the field trip coordination meeting/open bar social event. Field trips are scheduled, as usual, on Friday and Monday, June 2 and 5, with ARARA presentations given Saturday and Sunday, June 3 and 4. Jim Keyser is the area Chair, and he and his team have already met with many locals to plan for field trips to sites including petroglyphs and pictographs in Columbia River Conventionalized and Columbia Plateau, Great Basin, North Oregon Rectilinear, and Yakima Polychrome styles. We have an enthusiastic local team working on the field trips as well as some possible local Warm Springs Indian cultural experiences.

     We are looking forward to our first ARARA conference in central Oregon.  For those of you who are not familiar with Redmond, it is a small town of about 30,000 people located at the junction of Hwy 97 and SR126 in southern Oregon, about 15 minutes north of Bend. The Hwy 20 (Boise/Portland) route also runs through Bend. The closest airport is Roberts Field (RDM) in Redmond, with car rentals available at the airport and a grocery store and other amenities in town. The Lodge at Eagle Crest is approximately five miles west of Redmond, ten miles east of the old western town of Sisters, 13 miles north of Bend, and a short 10-minute drive from the airport. While you are in the area, you may want to visit the Newberry National Volcanic Monument (a massive obsidian flow) just south of Bend. For those who want to hike or fish, there are many spots north of Sisters along the Metolius River and Suttle and Three Creek lakes, or along the Deschutes River, which runs through the conference property. Camping is also available (tent or RV) in many locations including the Tumalo State Park.


    Reservations at The Lodge at Eagle Crest for ARARA 2017

    It is time to make your reservations for the 2017 ARARA Conference in Redmond, Oregon. Conference room rates start June 1 for those arriving on Thursday for registration, field trip coordination meeting, and reception, and are good through Monday night, June 5, for checkout on Tuesday. The Lodge at Eagle Crest, five miles west of Redmond, provides our lodging as well as the nearby, easy-to-access conference center right across the lane. While most rooms include a refrigerator, coffee maker, and microwave, you'll want to verify a microwave for some rooms when you make your reservation. Lodging is $117.18 for a Double Queen, $136.88 for a King Suite, $215.65 for a two-bedroom condo, and $255.04 for a three-bedroom condo, with taxes and fees of 17.8%. There is plenty of parking at no additional cost. For reservations please call 877-790-6271 and reference the "ARARA 2017" group. The King and Queen rooms are on the first two floors, and are rented as a Holiday Inn Resort. The two- and three-bedroom condos located down the lane are also included as part of the Holiday Inn conference lodging; each unit can probably accommodate several parties. The third floor of the hotel is available as a Wyndham Time Share. The rooms there would be made available based on availability and are not included in the rooms described above.
